The grand finale of the Indian Idol reality show is just a few weeks away and the need of the hour was to kick start the participant’s fitness with exercise and yoga sessions and some sound nutrition advise. I want to share with my readers my fitness tips for these contestants.
The objective here was to transform people holistically and the goal was to instill self confidence and self esteem and to help them with sharper alertness and memory. The focus was on the five dimensions of wellness – physical, physiological, psychological, emotional and spiritual. To perform one needs a lot of mental strength, stamina, strong vocal cords and a positive attitude. I firmly believe that a healthy body and mind will help build more confidence and better stage presence. The best high is when you have succeeded in achieving your goal. All that you need for this is a new attitude, perseverance and passion. We did sessions like yoga, agility drills, Pilates, Pranayam and meditation. Regular Pranayams and meditation sessions were mandatory as they are very soothing for the mind.
Good health can only be achieved through cleansing, purifying and rejuvenation. And for this one needs to correct one’s food habits too. Good, wholesome foods help at all levels and helps to strengthen and purify the mind, body and spirit. I suggested that they turn vegetarian. Kicking the meat habit is a sure way to ensure better health.
For the past 2 decades I have been practicing conscious breathing and meditation. I believe in leading by example and I’d like to tell all that I practice these one hundred percent. There will be more inputs on their involvement and evolution as a whole unit.
