I was traveling to Kutch last week to participate in a fund raising ceremony for the upliftment of the poor and the needy and sitting next to me was this gentleman, Mr Dinesh Trivedi of Trinamool Congress (minister of state for health and family welfare). I was amazed to find him so exceptionally learned, very humble and sweetly behaved.

In fact, a couple of incidents I vividly remember were the charitable teaching institute experience. This school had a norm of removing the footwear outside and this gentleman very sweetly and without any fuss removed his foot wear and entered the premise with so much humility that I was completely awed by that.
The other incident was in one of his speeches, somebody asked him “how big is your family” and he replied that the “whole of India is my family”.

It was so heartening to meet people like that.

Kutch was a lovely experience and what I marvel at was the way the place has transformed after the earthquake disaster. When life gives you a setback, one must use it as an opportunity to rethink and act. It’s like a game of chess- where it may be wise to move a few steps back to achieve victory or success. This gives us time to strategize and reinvent ourselves.
