Breathing – The Third Fundamental of Healing (Part 5)

I wish you peace, harmony and balance. I pray that you always have peace of mind. Let your mind take second place to your awareness; your awareness to consciousness, and your consciousness take you beyond it all. May you experience nothingness, hollowness, and emptiness, only so that it may lead you to wholeness and eternal happiness.
It’s time to wake-up and let your breath take you in the direction of your dreams. It’s time to realize that you are the creator of your thoughts, words and deeds, and that you can change them with the power of breath, meditation, prayers, attitude and above all LOVE. Rumi beautifully said, ‘I have been living on the tip of insanity, wanting to know reasons, knocking at the door. The door ultimately opens and I realize that I have been knocking from inside’.
TECHNIQUE 5 – EXHALING WITH A HUMMING BEE SOUND/BHRAMARI PRANAYAMA
Sit in a comfortable posture, keeping the head and spine upright. Relax the whole body and close the eyes. The lips should remain gently closed with the teeth slightly separated. Make sure the jaws are completely relaxed. Raise the arms sideways and bend the elbows, bringing the hands to the ears. Use the index or middle finger to plug the ear, by turning the fingers in your ears. First breathe-out through the nose, and then breathe-in, as much as you can, through the nose. Now, exhale slowly and in a controlled manner while making a deep, steady humming sound, like that of a bee. The humming sound should be smooth, even and continuous, for the duration of the exhalation. The sound should make the front of the skull vibrate. This is one round. Perform such 3 rounds.1—2—3
Benefits: This technique reduces the blood pressure, pulse rate, stress, and anxiety. It also induces good sleep. It speeds up the healing of body tissues. It strengthens and improves the voice and eliminates throat problems. We can breathe our way to better health and beyond. It is time, that we learn the essential lesson of life and breathe life itself. The conscious cultivation of breath offers a powerful way not only to extract energies from the outside world but also to regulate the energetic pathways of our inner world, helping to bring our body, mind, and emotions into harmony.
