Anti-Terrorism Day – Death of Goodness
Posted by MickeyMehta under Events and Occassions , Important Days to Remember1 Comment
It is everyone’s moral duty to fight against terrorism – the most heinous crime by man against his own kind.
Shri Rajiv Gandhi stood against the peril of terrorism and gave his life for it on this day; let us make sure that his death was not given in vain, let us at least fight terrorism in our hearts.
Unfortunately, fighting terrorism is like being a goalkeeper of our national game – hockey. Like the goalkeeper we may save many a goals, but the one that the public remembers is the one that got past the goalkeeper in to the goal. Thus this day is observed to generate awareness among all sections of people, about the danger of terrorism, violence and its dangerous effect on the people, the society, country and the world at large.
We should use this day for discussions in schools, colleges and universities; conducting seminars, and lectures, on the dangers of terrorism and violence and a determined and sustained drive to bring about a mass awakening against terrorism and violence.
Though like all sane persons, I too would like to end this era of terror, but, I am sure we cannot fight terrorism with terrorism; you have to fight terrorism with understanding a different point of view, with more tolerance and of course love. ‘An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind’.
We need to produce better technologies, strategies, organizations, and trained personnel who can work with all groups of people, our so called friends & enemies, and enhance the quality & substance of political & economic reforms, so that we have more people agreeing to a common goal and needs and lesser conflicts and terror.
We all need define what is holy for us. Let us call for a global consensus on what is a holy place for you. Once we all are clear as to what’s holy to us, most of what is not holy will drop out on its own.
Let us pray for all those innocent people who died or were harmed by the terrorist and let us also pray for redeeming the terrorist’s souls; for they know not what they do.
