Disease of the Old – ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

Non-medication based treatments of Alzheimer’s disease (AD); a slowly progressive disease of the brain that is characterized by impairment of memory and eventually by disturbances in reasoning, planning, language, and perception are – Changing lifestyle to a positive one by giving the patients more opportunities for social interaction and allowing them to participate in physical activities like swimming, stationary cycling, walking, dancing, singing etc.
Persons after the age of 70 years have far greater chances of having this disease; which causes nerve cell death and dementia.
Dementia is typically characterized by failing memory, failing ability to organize thoughts and reason, failing to use the learned language, and failing to see things accurately in spite of the eyesight being good. All these invariably lead to a decrease in patient’s usual level of day-to-day functioning.
Besides increasing age &persons suffering Down syndrome, those who have the genetic inclination for getting Alzheimer’s, those with high blood pressure, Coronary Artery Disease, diabetes, high cholesterol level and less academically gifted are affected. Thus, it naturally stands to reason, that by correcting your lifestyle to correct these risk-factors, tends to prevent Alzheimer.
