“Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to imagination and life to everything else”
Music is not just a sound. It is far more than simply an audiovisual medium. Music is as an act of entering a new world, living a new experience. Music, as a form of art, is widely enjoyed by people all over the planet across diverse backgrounds ans numerous cultures.
Music has a special power to move us, to stir our emotions. Anyone who has has ever wiped away their tears while listening to sad music or suddenly turned chirpy after listening to a peppy song will know how powerful music can be. Scientists have proved that music can light up one’s memory and vision.
Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. According to Bob Marley “One good thing about music when it hits you, you feel no pain.” Music never did anyone any harm, all it ever did was to help live a better life. Listening to music has a lot of merits. Listening to music can affect your mood, so when you’re down music can be your saviour and cheer you up. Music helps you concentrate better. It helps you to focus, to wake up, energise and relax. Music helps you run faster.
According to a study music can help increase endurance by as much as 15 percent. It helps to lower the perception of effort during exercise, as well as increasing energy and efficiency by between one to three percent. Music can act as an effective and positive treatment for people dealing with mental health conditions. Music also acts as a de-stressing agent in times of stress as it is incredibly soothing and helps to reduce anxiety. Music can also help in lowering the heart rate, blood pressure and helps relieve pain, anxiety and improve the quality of life.
Thus we can say music is the most expressive, soothing, de-stressing, educating and far reaching form of art. What technology, progress and education can’t, come out right only through the form of music as Jimi Hendrix says, “Music doesn’t lie, if there is something to be changed in this world it can happen only through music.”
