The Good Friday is traditionally renowned as a day on which Jesus was crucified. It comes on the Friday immediately before Easter Sunday. The Christians honor and memorize the event, passion and suffering through which Jesus went through. Many Christians spend the day fasting, offer prayers, perform meditation and most often spend the day in repentance.
It is said that when Jesus was crucified the first of the last seven expressions was “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” ~ Gospel of Luke 23:34
Forgiveness is a very important part of your path if you want to attain your ultimate goal in life. Unless you have the capacity to forgive you will be unable to move forward or create any new future on the canvas of life! I have time and again reiterated the importance of forgiving; what day could be better than Good Friday to emphasize my point!
If Jesus could forgive those who betrayed him and he gave up his life for them; who can do what wrong to us that is bigger and cannot be forgiven? It might sound a little difficult in the beginning but as you go along it will become easier and soon become a habit.
Carrying the past is not necessary, it will become a burden. When we read a book, we turn the page we have finished reading so that we may move on to the next page. Simple action, everyone agrees that you can’t read the next page unless you turn this one! Then why don’t we let go of the page of life we are on? If we don’t turn the page then how come we have the audacity to expect to go on to the next page?
Then again we judge! Judge from the past! How stupid! Same allegory, if the next page is going to be the same as the page we just turned then what is the point of reading the book at all! I am sure none of you would read a book in which every page is the same! So how come we expect that in life!
Jesus was resurrected! It was unprecedented; because Jesus Forgave, He did not Judge, He did not come from the Past, He had Faith – in Himself. Miracles happen; only if we come from no precedent!
Whatever our religion in our life time if we are only able to imbibe one lesson from Jesus; to be able to forgive; we will create miracles in our lives.
Make a resolve to yourself, ‘Just for today I ask for forgiveness from all those whom I have hurt; just for today I forgive all those who have hurt me; just for today I forgive myself for all the hurt and guilt that I have carried.’
