Circumstances make us tumble, fumble and crumble in disgust, ailing over the inability to cope with fear. Our life loses its spark and everything around seems dull and lifeless. But we continue to exist in distress hoping for a miracle to happen. And then, with increasing pressure, bursts a voice so full of strength and clarity that it opposes the world and its rigid notions. That moment of resistance towards society and its ideal concepts is courage.

Courage is an attribute that we were born with, but lost it in the midst of our chaotic lives. Only vulnerable situations bring out the best in us and courage is the greatest attribute of them all. It is a word often associated with deeds that portray great vigor and valor. But, saying ‘no’ also needs courage. In truth, we all have become puppets living out the destiny carved for us by our society. We follow dreams seen by others and suppress the thirst for uniqueness fearing failure. Only some showed the courage to resist while others followed the rituals blindly. It requires abundant courage to walk alone but the satisfaction of losing after trying is a remarkable achievement in itself.
You don’t need a magic potion to revive your lost courage. All you need is loads of confidence to suppress the cunning fear and ignore the sarcastic world. Only possessing the driving urge and embracing change can bring back courage from it’s death bed. One shows courage by learning new things, speaking the truth, reacting to unfavorable conditions, supporting someone and traveling alone. You need not turn into a fighter to reveal your courage; a small act of saving a street dog from your insensitive fellow displays the same virtue.
Napolean Bonaparte once said, “Courage isn’t having the strength to go on, it is going on when you don’t have strength.” Overthrow the fear and shout at it saying, “You can’t stop me”. At the end of the day, all that matters is that you tried and didn’t run as a coward. Believe me, even the wildest of your dreams can come true with a little bit of courage.
