FAME GURUKUL
While the brief given to Mickey Mehta was for
a Physical Trainer of the FAME GURUKUL contestants, he brought much
more to the plate. Washing Karmic debts, prayers, meditation,
finding the Still Centre.
I transform people holistically, mine is not a fragmented approach.
For me it is a mind-body-soul thing. When I was given the brief I
said I would look into areas like self-confidence and self-esteem,
clear phobias, make the students alert, help them focus, sharpen memory.
Performances need a lot of stamina and mental strength, in addition
to a Perfect Ten-body. An artist has to be true, sincere and devoted.
So I tried to increase their flow of creativity, to be constantly
in touch with their Centre. Performance needs strong vocal chords
and stamina, so I tried to rejuvenate their energy. In the closed
atmosphere of Gurukul I helped them get rid of their emotional baggage,
their resentment about the events that happened there and their grievances.
And more importantly I taught them to be a political in a situation
which could become political.
I gave them US military type training. Singers have to have strong
abdominal muscles and their vocal chords have to be strong. Ialso
taught them breathing exercises like the Mooladhar bandh and
the jalandhar bandh which are yogic exercises. Then we did
the special breathing called bhastrika.
Another exercise was called Creative Guided Visualisation which really
helped the students. They had to visualize themselves going all the
way to the finals, of being crowned the Fame Jodi, of winning. I helped
them to get near their ideal weight. I suggested they turn vegetarian.
I taught them to pray, to meditate, to wash off their Karmic debts.
It was a kind of emotional cleansing too.
Another important thing I taught them was to flirt with the audience
and trigger a response. This they could do by maintaining eye contact,
with their walk. A kind of mass hypnotism technique which worked on
the heart of the audience. I also helped them as artists by heightening
perception. We did fragrance therapies, sound and visual therapies.
I want them to open out completely, to liberate themselves and blossom
holistically. I brought in all my 23 years of experience to help them.
