Regain Your Brain Power

Follow these steps and exercise your brain to regain what you seem to have lost in terms of brain power within the monotony of mundane lives.

Remember your school days when you mastered the art of packing in your brain with facts and figures. All that changes once you get out of school. We feel that we have become slow and dull by the day. Have you really lost these fantastic powers of comprehension? If you think you have then you are wrong!

Scientific research suggests that exercising your brain can increase your brain power. The brain is the only organ in the human body which has a high degree of flexibility and renews itself over time. If you have had a varied experience over time, the brain will have a number of nerve cells connections. This will not be so if experiences are routine and life is mundane. Irrespective of such experiences we can do a lot to regain the brain power.

1. Solve brain teasers

This is a time tested remedy for sharpening and activating cognitive skills. Solving puzzles, crosswords etc go a long way in giving the brain the exercise it needs. If you are not in the habit of doing these, make it your habit from time to time. The brain becomes more agile with use.

2 .The direct link of hands

In any task you do, it is your hands that constantly listen to the commands sent by the brain. Thus developing nimble finger work skills will benefit the brain. If you think carefully about it any task you do is mostly carried out by the hands. Notice the hands of professionals who use their hands a lot in their work like surgeons. Their fingers are usually sharp. To develop your brain further, take up a hobby like model building, carpentry etc.

3. Music is the food for your brain

Music stimulates the brain, especially the frontal lobes. Musicians have larger cerebellums because the music they make stimulates the brain circuits. One of the best activities to perform is to play a musical instrument.

4 .Senses and memory

Memories create links between the brain’s emotional centers. A sure method of strengthening your memory is to refresh it especially if it could also involve your senses. Going over old photographs or old knick-knacks helps. It would be more effective to smell a perfume that was tucked away or eat some ‘comfort foods’ offered to you in childhood. Recollecting childhood memories is very helpful in activating your brain.

5. Exercise

If you keep physically fit especially by working out then it helps you to be mentally smart. All exercises are good to keep you mentally agile and active. Those exercises that require standing help to strengthen the brain’s balance and co-ordination. They help to sharpen the brain and other cognitive processes.

We all tend to think that over time our minds have dulled and slowed down. With these simple pointers mentioned above we can once again get back what we thought was lost.

Good nutrition in early childhood and adulthood also plays a pivotal role in brain and memory health. Healthy meal plans, combined with regular exercises and maintenance of a healthy weight through out your life will have a positive impact on one’s mental as well as physical health.
